I’m glad that I found a version without the annoying female refrain…
I don’t even believe that there are that many people who don’t like this song.. 134?? really? Those people need to watch this, seriously listen to it, and reconsider how they want to live life. Live it to the fullest, Be the best you can be.
@GlasgowWall Couldn’t agree more. I was about 13 and thought it was just a bizarre song. Now? Wise, indeed, Baz.
@kitterik Yes of course, that is what gives this whole song a different feel.
Our views change constantly. and “facts” are not as reliable as he makes them seem to be.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who
supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of
fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the
hideous parts and recycling it for more than
it’s worth. But trust me on the sunscreen…
starting today im drinking milk
@johan2d @johan2d Quite possibly, but given the fact that it was written in the nineties might mean that our views on it were different back then. Maybe he should do a remix… Ladies and gentleman, from the class of 2010, Don’t wear sunscreen…
@kitterik Im not missing the point at all i like this song and i know its not about the sunscreen science. But it does make the video a bit shifty. The writer compared his advice to a reliable scientific fact ( to make his advice a bit more personal and humble). If this fact on which he has build these lyrics, cascade away it does make the feel for the song / video (at least) different.
John Safran’s Version kicks this ones arse! (Not the Sunscreen Song!)
@TheVodKanockers
Two dollars?!?!? sally strothers told me those small buggers could live for 15 cents a day!! did the price of dirt and flies go up?!
These are the secrets that the generation of our parents seem to know so well and live by so closely. The saddest part is that as adolescents, we tend to overlook these secrets and believe that we have too much time to care about anything serious in the world.
So yeah, this video is a excellent, gentle reminder of what’s gorgeous, you know?
I heard this song on the radio so many years ago (when I was 12 or 13) and the thought subdue makes so much sense.
like it.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!!!! It is certainly the best life advice I’ve heard,
What a man… Touching but right!!!
@GlasgowWall I’m 16 now, and this possibly saved me from going insane.
for anyone out there who feels as lost as I do.
as my excellent friend albert would say………………. “smile” (:
@johan2d I assume this is one of the latest science report, which will do a complete U-turn in 5 years time and they will claim the exact opposite. Even if it isnt, you really miss the point..
@TheVodKanockers Really, this advice is for graduating college students, not for Mexican children. That should be pretty obvious from the “Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’99″ part.
Tell this to Mexican children who live with 2 dollars per day, or children in third world countries. Nice song but for Americans.
@jdawg61384 Ummm…ok then.
This song puts so much into perspective for me…thanks for posting
I Like this song and this video…it puts things into perspective
